Position Overview


The Director of Design Strategy, Digital Experience is a confident, proactive, and highly collaborative leader helping the business solve big, hairy problems and take advantage of game-changing opportunities by researching, validating, and architecting holistic solutions with a digital heartbeat. As a forward-looking, internal partner who touches all aspects of the global business, this person possesses strong business and technical acumen as well as a deep understanding of the operating environments of the pharmaceutical, healthcare and/or beauty industry. 


This person is a natural and flawless presenter, yet – as a partner to the business – is comfortable being “behind the scenes” and genuinely enjoys helping to elevate the ideas and initiatives of others. S/he is fluent in both right- and left-brain thinking and can easily transition from big-picture ideation and business/design modeling to highly technical scoping and tactical project planning. Ultimately, this person obsesses over the ability to innovate through Digital, thrives in an ambiguous environment, knows how to work through people/relationships, and relishes “figuring things out.”


Main Areas of Responsibility:


  • Manages internal relationships with key stakeholders across the organization. Acts as a strategic advisor and partner to the business, helping to bring to life innovative, digitally driven solutions to significant business challenges/opportunities that are well researched, fully designed, validated, and present a strong business case to warrant investment.
  • Leads human-centered research to guide proof-of-concepts. Analyzes the user and the context, qualitatively and quantitatively. Challenges research assumptions. Uses voice of customer work to marry experience with strategy. 
  • Creates and manages a process for vetting digital innovation opportunities/ideas and managing the validation and/or incubation of game-changing digital initiatives for acceleration consideration.
  • Partners with Digital Innovators and Technologists across the organization to help bring digital transformation expertise and best practices back to the rest of the business.
  • Champions a culture of digital innovation, providing proactive and strategic research, insights, and recommendations to key partners across the organization.




Requirements


The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:


  • 10+ years of experience leading the strategic design of large-scale projects/programs required
  • Digital expertise required




Preferred Skills/Qualifications


  • Management consulting experience preferred
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment preferred
  • Expert in human-centered design and research methodologies
  • Ability to integrate strategic business thinking with digitally-driven solutions
  • Proficient communicator and presenter with the ability to make the complex simple and digestible
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on forging strong partnerships with internal customers
  • Ability to champion abstract ideas 
  • Passionate about digital innovation
  • Research and data junkie
  • Ability to travel up to 60%


 

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
