Position Description

 

Pathology Associate II will be responsible for supporting histopathological analysis for SKinMedica product development projects in collaboration with members at SkinMedica Biological Research team. This involves responsible for performing histology sample preparation with in vitro, ex vivo and human biopsy samples.  Also requires intense knowledge and experience with special staining and immunohistochemistry using various biomarkers and with different technics. Creativity, attention to detail, strong communication skills, as well as the ability to successfully conduct projects under minimum supervision and as part of a team-based environment is crucial.

 

 

Main Areas of Responsibilities

 

       Responsible for preparing in vitro, ex vivo and human skin biopsy samples for histology analysis including fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy and routine/special/IHC staining.

       Perform capturing histology slide images using microscopy/digital scanners.

       Coordinate the workflow in histology to meet project and company goals.

       Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to organize the sequencing and timing of work assigned.

       Maintains records of samples and archival of histological specimens (blocks, slides, etc.).

       Computer proficiency with common PC software such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Requirements

 

       Must have experience and knowledge of a wide range of techniques in the histology, including fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy.

       Must have experience and in-depth knowledge of variety of special staining and development and implementation of immunohistochemical techniques.

       Must have ability to follows oral and complex written instructions.

       Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with other members of the group.

       Familiar and experience with writing SOPs.

       Experience with dermatology biopsy samples is preferred

       Experience with automated staining instrument is preferred.

       Experience with cell culture, especially with 3D cell culture model is plus.

 

 

Preferred Skills/Qualification

       Excellent analytical and organizational skills, self-starter, motivated.

       Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills.

       Proficient computer skills.

       Must be able to follow and adhere to supervisor directions.

 

Education

 

Must have bachelor鈥檚 degree with more than five years of experience in a related field.

ASCP certified HT/HTL is preferred.
